Linux Idiots

Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols writes:

There are some Linux system administrators out there who should be glad, very glad, they don't work for me because I'd be firing them today.

Linux really is more secure than most operating systems, but, as the security mantra goes, "security is a process, not a product."

Some security breaches you can't stop. If your CEO insists on keeping his passwords on a post-it note on his display, there's not much you can do. But, for attacks like phalanx2, where simply being aware of recent major security problems and updating systems would have stopped the assault in its tracks, there is no excuse.

Ah, yes. I know these Linux idiots. What's their profile like? They insist on doing everything the commandline way (whether they really do so is anybody's guess) and use irrelevant big terms to support their arguments. These are the trolls you see on newsgroups and forums who love to pick on fights with others, and they'll call anyone who doesn't agree with their warped opinions and made-up facts, a "troll", although they're just as likely to call you other more abusive names. I reckon, most of the time, they're too busy punching away at the keyboard to realise what desktop support, security and networking are.

Setting up and maintaining servers that are wide open to attacks? Well, I'd say that's quite an achievement - something which I'm incapable of doing.
