Fits with what Linux.com suggested was the motives of Microsoft. It is a way to buy out the open source competition and keep their monopoly. If open source is so good that they are afraid of the competition, I am sure that it also has greater value by itself. I find that people will pay well to get away from M$ and in fact I did an installation recently for a business. Once they converted, they will save the cost of conversion every year and be more secure.
